We LOVE bowling!
On September 14, Natalya, Tim and 15 other students went bowling at Alhambra Bowling Center. The bowling place is located not too far from school. They got there at around 5.30 pm. After paying and putting on the shoes, they split into 3 teams. The game was fun! Some students were very good and they got high scores! 156 points! Those players taught the rest of the students how to play. After the game, the students all went out for dinner to one of the Chinese restaurants near the bowling center.
Join us next time! LSI OC will be going bowling this wekk too!!!

Beach Party- Volleyball Tournament
On Friday August 26th, Language Systems International (LSI) organized its annual Volleyball Tournament in one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in California, Huntington Beach. Five campuses- Alhambra, Downtown, Torrance, OC and Beverly Hills- got together to fight for the championship. The tournament was very intense, and the competition between the schools was strong Besides the volleyball tournament there were many other games like Tug-of-War, water balloon game, fill the bucket, stick game and disgusting food contest.
By 9.30 am a huge territory of the beach was covered by different colors, representing each school. Each school had T-shirts of a different color. OC students wore red, LA students wore yellow, Torrance students wore gray, Alhambra students wore green, and Beverly Hills students wore pink.

The school that got the strongest students is Downtown LSI. They won Tug-of -War!
One student from Torrance and one student from MLI won the in the stick competition.
The disgusting food contest was intense! And Alhambra happened to have the best eaters and won this competition.
As you can see, all the school have got something special they are good at and each school won at least one game! The beach party was just amazing! Everybody’s got a nice tan and healthy glow. You can find a lot of pictures taken by the students and LSI photographer on Facebook and watch video on youtube.com.

Tennis with Jose and Natalya!
Every other Friday students from LSI Alhambra get a chance to play and improve their tennis skills.
There are a few students who are really good players! Jose, the staff member, is really an excellent player too. He is really patient and doesn't mind giving everybody advice and a few lessons. There are usually about 10-15 people. LSI Alhambra is located very close to the park where you can find basketball and tennis courts, swimming pools and BBQ grills. The school has a lot of tennis rackets which our students can use for free. It's a fun activity that helps everybody to stay in shape and work out those muscles you didn't know you had!

Lunch Social in Alhambra
We were invited for lunch in an Italian restaurant with our teacher Erber on July 12th . I didn't know what to expect but was told everything will be relaxed and fun. We met a lot of different country students at this lunch party, there were about 16 people.
It is a small and warm Italian restaurant which included all kinds of Italian special dishes. Because it was my first time to experience this food, I had no idea what to order at all! Fortunately, Erber was very kind and full of patience to explain the menu to us. We were so hungry and had to wait for 1 hour......The lunch was served in 3 different dishes, there was pasta with garlic bread, grilled chicken wings, a super big pizza with bacon and beef. It was a tasty and delicious meal but most enjoyable was being together with our classmates and teacher! Can't think of a more perfect way to spend lunch time.
Lunch social is always fun!

Do you know what Futsal is?
The origin of Futsal® (Five-a-Side Soccer) can be traced back to Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1930 when Juan Carlos Ceriani devised a five-a-side version of soccer for youth competion in YMCAs. The game is played on basketball-sized courts, both indoors and out without the use of sidewalls.
The term FUTSAL® is the international term used for the game. It is derived from the Spanish or Portuguese word for “soccer”– FUTbol or FUTebol, and the French or Spanish word for “indoor” — SALon or SALa. The term was adopted by U.S. Futsal since it includes the initials “fUtSAl” (USA). The term was trademarked in the United States after U.S. Futsal changed its corporate name within the state of California.
The game is frequently referred to as Five-A-Side or Mini-soccer. Once Ceriani got the ball rolling, Futsal gained rapid popularity throughout South America, particularly in Brazil. The skill developed in this game is visible in the world-famous style the Brazilians display outdoors on the full-sized field. Pele, Zico, Socrates, Bebeto and other Brazilian superstars developed their skill playing Futsal. While Brazil continues to be the Futsal hub of the world, the game is now played, under the auspices of FIFA, all over the world, from Europe to North and Central America and the Caribbean, South America, Africa, and Asia and Oceania. Now that you know a little bit more about Futsal, join LSI Torrance Futsal's team and enjoy the exciting game of Futsal Indoor Soccer every Tuesday evening at South Coast Soccer City!
