Live Jazz at the DoubleTree Hilton, Monrovia

On Thursday July 24, a group of LSI students from the Alhambra Campus went to a live Jazz performance by the pool at the DoubleTree Hilton in Monrovia. Students from different classes were able to connect with each other and share their travel stories. Some students ordered tasty appetizers such as crab cakes and bruschetta and enjoyed a cool refreshing drink in the warm summer evening. The Jazz band consisted of 3 members with a vocalist who sang standard Jazz numbers by Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn and others. It was a wonderful, relaxing event and a great end to a sunny So Cal summer day.    @LSINortheast

Angels vs Orioles Baseball Game

On Monday July 21, a group of twenty LSI students had the special opportunity to attend an Angels Baseball Game. For many of them, it was their first time to see the game of baseball being played. It was a beautiful summer night in Southern California and all the students were excited to be at the game!  But that all changed when Adam Jones on the other team hit a 2-run homerun in the first inning.  That was followed by another 2-run homerun in the 6th inning by the very same player. The Angels ended up losing 4-2.

Even though our team lost, we had a lot of fun. The fans started the wave in the middle of the game and the wave made it all the way around the stadium 3 or 4 times. That was exciting! Also, the students had a great time practicing English and making new friends from other classes. As we left the stadium about 9:30pm, we could see the firework show at nearby Disneyland. That was really cool too!     @LSIOC
