Wonder Woman with teacher DJ

South Bay students enjoyed an afternoon with teacher DJ. Lunch and a movie at Torrance's famous Del Amo Shopping Center.

Our Saturday afternoon begins with lunch at Stacked, where you can order your meal from an iPad. This restaurant is special because you can customize any sandwich, burger, pizza, and flatbread. Surprise, surprise! We all had BURGERS! Burgers with bacon, avocado, ghost-pepper cheddar cheese, fried onions, butter lettuce, and sun-dried tomato just to name a few toppings. And it was delicious!

After we finished lunch we headed to the theater to enjoy the excitement of Wonder Woman in 3D IMAX. Everyone enjoyed the film.

However, we had one student who was too comfortable in the cool dark theater and fell asleep for about 15 mins! Overall we loved the movie and enjoyed the day!

Agua Dulce Winery and Vineyards

Last Saturday (June 3), teacher John from LSI Downtown took 9 students to Agua Dulce Winery and Vineyards for a winery tour, tasting, and picnic lunch.

We were able to see how wine is made, taste new wine directly from the barrel, and enjoy a delicious lunch outside on a beautiful sunny day.

Everyone was very impressed with the super friendly staff and wine-related goods that were on sale in the tasting room.

Afterward, we stopped at Vasquez Rocks County Park for walking among the unusual rock formations there.

We even stopped at "In 'N Out" on the way home for snacks and milkshakes.

Everyone had a great time and returned safely after a really fun and informative day!

Game at Dodger Stadium

What a day for LSI students to attend a major league baseball game at Dodger Stadium!!

Beautiful weather, Hyun-Jin Ryu was pitching (making our Korean students happy) and the Dodgers won in a come-from-behind victory in one of the most exciting games of the season so far!!

It was the first Dodger Stadium experience for many of the 19 students from mostly the morning classes at LSI Downtown, led by teacher John.

Not many people can say that they saw a GRAND SLAM HOME RUN at their very first major league baseball game! Go Dodgers!!

AFTERNOON AT THE MUSEUM

On June 6, 2017, students from Language System's Northeast LA campus were treated to an afternoon of fun and discovery at The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

Students from our ESL, Conversation, and Test Prep classes were able to relive moments from the Jurassic era by walking amongst the remains of prehistoric creatures.

Although the exhibits did not come to life like in the movie, Night at the Museum, LSI students were still able to enjoy many of the interactive exhibits that were offered.

Especially since this was on a FREE museum day!

The Juice Joint

Amanda, a popular ESL teacher at the Torrance campus, introduced the students to a one of a kind Open Mic Live music event called "

The Juice Joint" at The Study in Hollywood on Memorial Day 5/29/2017.

The event is unique because it is a truly open mic and invites anyone with any kind of musical or artistic talent to join the house band on stage for an improvisational challenge!

In addition, the students enjoyed a variety of performances with American inspired music which included singing, reading poetry, dancing, and more! They also participated in interactive games that the host of the show was playing with the audience (all in English!).

Field trip to Stacked

Level 7 took a field trip to Stacked at the nearby Del Amo Mall.

There's an ongoing debate in the class about the best burgers in Los Angeles.

One student recommends they try Stacked for "research."

The verdict is still out!
