Halloween 2011

Last Friday evening at Oiwake in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, a frightful parade of ghouls, ghosts, goblins and monsters gathered to pay homage to their ilk at the annual LSI Halloween party!

While the ghoulish fiends gobbled their savory dinners and howled to their favorite karaoke songs, judges pre-selected the winners of the costume contests: The Headless Man frightened the judges into awarding him the Scariest Costume; the Baby-Bearer captured the hearts (literally) of the judges for Most Creative Costume; The Soiled Little Ghost grabbed the judges funny bone for Funniest Costume; and Snow White caught the judges eyes to become Miss Halloween! Thankfully, she gave them back before the night was through.

Once the prizes were awarded, the creatures of the night were treated to an improve performance by the Film Group Project Following the performance, the baying of the beasts could only be silenced by the winner of the Pumpkin Carving Contest. The O.C. campus carved its way into the judges eyes (only recently returned by Snow White) and stole first prize.

With so much pent-up energy, the fiendish freaks needed a release...and just then LSI’s Live-Dead DJ hit the turn-tables and all the ghosts, goblins, ghouls, and the other creatures of the night shook, rattled and rolled until the sun threatened to expose them. And still they lay in the crags and shadows awaiting the next LSI Halloween Party!

Until next year, my blood-thirsty friends! - Iain, LA Campus
