Teacher John from LSI
Downtown shared his love for aviation and vintage aircraft by taking 6 students
to the Camarillo Air Show last Saturday.
Students were happy to see the
aircraft up close and personal as well as see them make low passes over the
airfield.
One highlight was a mock air battle between an authentic Japanese
Zero fighter and an American Hellcat fighter.
Students were also excited to see
aerobatic flying from the Redbull helicopter and one of the top female
aerobatic pilots in the world, Vicki Benzing, in her specially modified plane.
There was also a skydiving demonstration with three paratroopers jumping from a
vintage C-47, as well as a visit by the only helicopter/aircraft in the world,
an MV-22 Osprey.
After a nice dinner at a popular American restaurant, BJ’s,
the students remarked that the air show was much better than they expected, and
that they would like to go again next year.
