On
Friday, September 16, Language Systems International (LSI) held its first
annual Futsal Tournament at LA Galaxy Soccer Center.
All four LSI campuses, including the Northeast LA Dragons, Orange County (OC) Surfers, and the South Bay (SB) Sharks, participated enthusiastically and brought many fans along for the ride!
It was a new and exciting experience for both
the teams and the fans. The facilities at the LA Galaxy Soccer Center were
amazing as the teams adjusted to playing on an indoor field and with fewer
players.
The fans from each school crowded around the "Donovan" and "Beckham" courts to watch the fierce competition and cheer their teams on. Each school was represented by students wearing their school colors.
The Northeast LA Dragons wore green, the LA Angels wore yellow, the South Bay
Sharks wore blue, and the OC students wore red.
Each team had prepared for this tournament by practicing and learning how to work together.
This was evident when watching the teams
practice the match. Each team looked disciplined, confident, and ready to have
a good time.
The championship match was between the SBLA Sharks and the DTLA
Angels. Each school played strong and with a lot of heart, but in the end, the
SBLA Sharks came away with the championship trophy. Congratulations, SBLA!
Afterwards, the students and players got
together to hang out at the "LA Galaxy Cafe," where LSI staff offered
soft drinks, snacks, and pizza. There was a drawing by Expedition America and
several students won free LA City Tours and two free Las Vegas trips!
